The Teamwork Dilemma: Team Members aren’t always Team Players

Great teamwork exists when there is a synergy between team members and a collaborative effort by team members to achieve common goals. In today’s high stakes game of business, the players on the team are the competitive advantage for any organization. But, only if they are collaborating with each other instead of competing with each other.

The organizational culture determines how often and how much teamwork there is in an organization. Far too often, high performance team members aren’t high performance team players. Many organizations struggle with communication issues, conflict and departmental silos, “finger pointing” blame, and employees who choose to compete against one another instead of choosing to complete one another as they work together to achieve team goals.
